Myth 1: EV’s catch fire more than gasoline cars

You’ve seen the news headlines or the video. Breathless announcements about electric vehicles catching on fire. But how often do EV’s catch fire? And does it happen more than with gasoline powered cars?
For today’s MythBusting May – we’re going to give you the facts, not the fiction!
According to the US National Transportation Safety board, EV’s experience about 25 fires per 100,000 vehicles sold. Gasoline cars? 1,530 fires per 100,000 vehicles sold.
So, it’s a myth – EV’s in fact have a minuscule amount of fires in comparison to gasoline cars.
