While our Summer EVenture spotlights the new fast-charging stations in Abilene, similar charging pitstops are popping up all along interstates throughout the United States, making EV road trips not only possible, but stress-free.

After charging up in Abilene, drivers are invited to visit the Eisenhower Presidential Library — honoring the man who once cruised around in one of America’s earliest electric cars and helped shape our national highway system.

1914 Rauch & Lang Electric Car

The Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum, and Boyhood Home in Abilene, Kansas, honors the legacy of America’s 34th President. The 23-acre campus features a museum, preserved boyhood home, research library, and memorial chapel. Eisenhower was a driving force behind the creation of the Interstate Highway System, shaped by his early experiences crossing the country by convoy and observing Germany’s autobahns. Long before that, he drove one of America’s earliest electric vehicles — a 1914 Rauch & Lang owned by his in-laws, on display at the Museum. Today, the site stands as a tribute to innovation, mobility, and American progress.
