Plug-In KC: Affordability April

It’s hard to believe but April is almost over! What an amazing month to talk about the numerous ways Affordable Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) can save you money.

KEY AREAS DISCUSSED:

  1. Powering your EVs – electricity continues to be a much cheaper source of energy than gasoline, especially when charging at home. When paired with a time of use plan, the cost equivalence for charging an EV is less than $1.00 per gallon
  2. Used EV’s are beginning to flood the market, meaning more options for finding an inexpensive reliable EV in your area.
  3. The used EV tax credit can instantly deduct up to $4,000 of the purchase price of an used EV! Just be sure to check beforehand about eligibility.
  4. Evergy offers an EV charging rebate for installing a level 2 charger in your home! This can take $500 off the price of installing a charger in your garage.
  5. Be sure to take into account the total cost of ownership (TCO) when evaluating the cost of owning an EV versus an ICE vehicle.

The bottom line is that EVs are affordable to purchase, fuel and maintain throughout their lifecycle!
