Charging Ahead: New EV Chargers in Overland Park Farmers Market and Independence Rivian Adventure Network
Our Charging Ahead series highlights the newest additions to the Kansas City region’s growing EV charging network. This month, we’re featuring two very different charging destinations: EV Chargers in Overland Park designed for a leisurely morning at the Farmers’ Market, and a new Rivian Adventure Network destination right off the interstate in Independence.

A Fresh Stop for Drivers: EV Chargers in Overland Park at the new Farmers’ Market
Visitors to the newly reopened Overland Park Farmers’ Market will find more than local produce and fresh flowers waiting for them. Alongside the market is a new row of Blink Level 2 charging stations, making it easy to top off your battery while enjoying one of Johnson County’s most popular summer weekend destinations.
The market itself recently reopened following an extensive renovation that transformed the space into a year-round community gathering place with expanded vendor areas, improved public amenities, and room for future growth. On market days, visitors can browse 50 to 100 local vendors while their vehicle quietly recharges nearby.
One feature we especially appreciated is the flexibility of the installation. Each charging station includes both a J1772 connector and a built-in NACS (Tesla-style) connector, allowing drivers of most modern EVs to plug in without needing an adapter.
Another thoughtful addition is something you don’t often see: a standard 120-volt outlet located at each charging space. Whether it’s powering a small accessory, topping off an e-bike, or providing flexibility for future needs, it’s another example of planning beyond today’s charging standards.
Quick Facts:
- Located adjacent to the new Overland Park Farmers’ Market
- 4 Blink Level 2 charging stations, serving 8 dedicated parking spots
- Both J1772 and NACS connectors available
- Standard 120-volt outlet at every space

Rivian Expands Fast Charging in Independence
Drivers traveling along Interstate 70 have another fast-charging option with the opening of Rivian’s newest Adventure Network site in Independence.
The location includes 10 DC fast charging stalls, including a dedicated pull-through space designed for vehicles towing trailers. That extra-long charging space is becoming a signature feature of Rivian’s network, making it much easier for drivers hauling campers, boats, or utility trailers to charge without unhitching first.
The site uses the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector across every stall, reflecting the industry’s continued move toward a common charging standard.
While Rivian originally built its Adventure Network exclusively for Rivian owners, the company has been steadily opening many locations to additional EV brands, helping expand fast charging options for more drivers.
For travelers heading across Missouri or simply passing through Independence, another reliable fast charging location means one less gap in the region’s growing charging network.
Quick Facts:
- 10 DC fast charging stalls
- NACS connectors
- Dedicated trailer-friendly pull-through space
- Convenient location for I-70 travelers

Every new charging station serves a different purpose. Some make everyday errands more convenient. Others make road trips easier and more reliable.
Together, additions like the new Blink chargers in Overland Park and Rivian’s Adventure Network site in Independence continue to strengthen the Kansas City region’s charging infrastructure, giving EV drivers more choices wherever the road takes them.
