APRIL 29: Get Your Green On at the City Market
April 29 from 9 AM to 1 PM at the City Market
This FREE, family-friendly annual event promotes ecological sustainability and green lifestyle choices.
Participate in the Scraps KC USED SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE to provide re-purposed school supplies to ensure students in economically challenged schools have what they need for classroom learning. Bring used-not-new school supplies and try your hand at a fun make-and-take activity with art educators. Get Your Green On will also feature Eco Elvis and the Extraordinaires live in concert from 12 to 1 PM.
In addition to Scraps KC activities and Eco Elvis, Get Your Green On is focused on local food production, waste reduction, resource conservation and renewable energy. Visitors can look forward to these interactive exhibits and educational activities and more:
- Check out the latest electric cars and learn about alternative transportation from the KCP&L Clean Charge Network, Metropolitan Energy Center, KC Streetcar and KCATA.
- Observe a completely contained “live hive” from The Midwestern Beekeepers Association and learn about the role of the honey bee in our food supply.
